In an effort to save billions of dollars of printing costs, Congress is considering replacing dollar bills with dollar coins...again.

The move would supposedly save taxpayers $4.4 billion over the next 30 years. But I don't buy it. First of all, many people are beginning to use debit cards exclusively, opting to not even carry paper money anymore. Plus, the government is famous for inflating the amount of "savings" that results from their legislation.

On a personal note, I hate the idea. I'm still old fashioned, I guess, in that I carry a wallet with paper money and prefer to make most transactions that way. And I don't love the idea of a bunch of heavy coins jingling away in my pocket.
