The newest entry to Asheville's bustling beer scene is still more than two months from opening, but the buzz over Wicked Weed Brewery is already building, thanks to their People's Choice Award at the recent Brewgrass Festival. At one point, the line was 150 people deep just to get a taste.

Tuesday night, I got a behind-the-scenes tour of the building, and got to know the partners, Ryan, Luke, and Walt. Luke and Walt Dickinson are brothers who will handle the beer side. Ryan Guthy will be the business guy, so to speak. They have very ambitious plans for Wicked Weed, and I have no doubt they'll be able to pull it off.
I enjoyed getting to know them and sample some of their beers. They have passion for their product and their project, and you'll be hearing from them directly, soon, with a video tour we shot during our visit.
I was impressed by their brewing knowledge, their business model, and the building itself.
They hope to begin serving tasty brews just as the world is supposed to be ending, on December 21st (if you believe the Mayans). There's still a lot of work to do, so hitting the target date will be difficult. But regardless of when they open, I expect a packed house, with those folks coming back for more once they experience Wicked Weed.

And stay tuned for the video tour, coming in a few weeks.
